When Infiniti first released its G sedan in 2002, it was obvious which luxury automaker Infiniti was trying to compete with . Infinity G35's rear-wheel-drive platform, free-revving six-cylinder engine, and very accurate handling had traditional German buyers stopping by their local Infiniti dealer to perform a test drive with the new Infiniti sport sedan. Infiniti fastly added all-wheel drive and a sleek coupe to the G's line-up , extending its mimic of (and compete with ) BMW's new 3 Series, but even the most passionate fans never got a G convertible.
